Centering Equity Pre-Conference Workshop: "Disrupting the Patterns of Narrative Deception" - Rev. Dr. Denise Donnell
The world we live in operates under a series of false narratives perpetuated by systems grounded in racism. These false narratives promote messages that suggest a person is successful and worthy when they meet specific criteria or achieve a milestone in pursuing the American Dream. Yet our narratives should tell an authentic story of who we are and how we experience the world. But what happens when those narratives are distorted or, even worse, the narratives are deceptive? How do we reclaim or restore the authenticity of our narratives and honor the dignity of others? This session will expose those misleading narratives, reveal how we fuel complicity in the systems of oppression, and how we can disrupt the patterns that create false narratives and move to develop meaningful allyships with each other. YOU MUST REGISTER FOR THE CENTERING EQUITY CONFERENCE TO ATTEND THIS WORKSHOP. Go to uca.edu/outreach/equity to register.
